Computer Accounting is a six-month (two-term) program designed to prepare students for entry-level computer accounting positions in banks, insurance offices, manufacturing firms, wholesalers, retailers, government offices and educational institutions.
To enroll, complete an application and attend any required academic orientation and information session. Students may enter this program at the beginning of the Fall term. Students meeting all program and graduation requirements receive a diploma.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Be able to communicate effectively, both written and orally.
- Be able to use spreadsheets as they pertain to accounting reports and calculations.
- Be able to use computerized accounting systems.
- Create, edit, and balance accounts based on GAAP.
- Explain and utilize data for product costing and management decision making.
- Understand basic concepts of the business system as a whole with an emphasis on economic and social topics.
- Organize information from multiple sources.
- Apply information from tables or graphs to locate malfunctions or selected actions.
- Make accurate observations.
- Develop sequential instructions.
- Given a problem, identify and evaluate alternative solutions and arrive at a workable solution.
- Identify cause and effect relationship.
