Diesel Mechanics, Diploma

Offered at North Campus

This is a 9-month (three-term) program. Students will acquire skills in various mechanical, electrical, and computer systems necessary to diagnose, repair, and maintain different types of equipment where diesel engines are used. Students will study diesel powertrains, hydraulics, brakes, air conditioning, and automated guidance systems (GPS).


To enroll, complete an application and attend any required academic orientation and information sessions. Students may enter this major at the beginning of the Fall term. Students meeting all program and graduation requirements receive a diploma.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Practice shop safety.
  2. Select and use proper tools and equipment to perform diesel power systems repairs according to industry procedures.
  3. Locate and repair diesel powertrain malfunctions.
  4. Demonstrate preventative maintenance inspections.
  5. Identify and repair heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  6. Name the Geospatial Technologies for farms, construction, railroads, and other sites.
